Aftercare guide · Prepared by Andrew

Keeping your surfaces looking their best.

Thank you for choosing Power Wash Pro. I trust you're pleased with the results. This is the same aftercare guide I hand to every customer in Thame and across Oxfordshire — what to expect, what to do, and when to have each surface cleaned again.

A quick note

No exterior clean lasts forever — and that's completely normal.

Your property is constantly exposed to rain, wind, dirt, algae, moss and airborne spores. Over time, nature gradually returns. The good news is that regular maintenance is far easier and far more cost-effective than waiting until surfaces become heavily soiled again.

Recommended maintenance schedule

Patios & paths

Professional clean before heavy build-up returns.

Every 12 months

Block paving driveways

Plus regular weed control between cleans.

Every 12–18 months

Tarmac driveways

Longer if the surface has been restored or sealed.

Every 2–4 years

Render

Maintenance soft wash, depending on exposure.

Every 2–5 years

Gutters

Essential preventative maintenance.

Every 6–12 months

01

Patios & paths

Very little maintenance is required.

Over time, algae and organic growth will gradually return. This is completely normal — it isn't a sign the clean has failed.

The best way to keep your patio looking its best is to have it professionally cleaned approximately every 12 months, before heavy build-up returns.

Block paving driveways

Cleaning removes existing weeds — but new seeds blow in constantly.

New weed seeds are carried in by the wind and will germinate over time. Apply a suitable weedkiller several times each year, or pull small weeds by hand as soon as they appear.

Don't let a few weeds spoil an otherwise beautifully clean driveway. A professional maintenance clean is recommended every 12–18 months.

Tarmac driveways

Slow the regrowth and the finish lasts longer.

If light algae begins to return, a product such as Wet & Forget can help slow regrowth.

If your driveway has been treated with a tarmac restorer, its appearance will generally last longer. A professional maintenance clean is typically recommended every 2–4 years, depending on the condition of the surface.

Render

Your biocide keeps working long after I've left.

Your render has been professionally soft washed and treated with a professional biocide. The biocide continues working long after the clean has been completed, helping to inhibit future organic growth. Simply leave the biocide to do its job.

A maintenance soft wash is typically recommended every 2–5 years, depending on the property's location and exposure.

Please avoid pressure washing your render — this can permanently damage the finish.

Gutters

The single most valuable bit of annual maintenance.

Annual gutter maintenance is one of the most important things you can do to protect your home. I recommend having your gutters professionally cleared every 6–12 months to help prevent blockages, overflowing water, damp and unnecessary repairs.

If you notice any overflowing water, leaks or loose guttering before then, simply get in touch.

Aftercare questions

How often should a patio be professionally cleaned?
Approximately every 12 months. Cleaning before heavy algae build-up returns keeps the job quicker, gentler on the surface and better value than waiting until it is heavily soiled.
How often should a block paving driveway be cleaned?
Every 12 to 18 months, with regular weed control in between. Cleaning removes existing weeds, but new seeds are constantly blown in by the wind and will germinate over time.
How often does a tarmac driveway need cleaning?
Typically every 2 to 4 years, depending on use and whether the surface has been treated with a tarmac restorer. A product such as Wet & Forget can help slow light algae regrowth between cleans.
Can I pressure wash my render myself?
No. Please avoid pressure washing render — it can damage the finish. Render should only ever be soft washed, and the professional biocide applied after your clean continues to inhibit organic growth for years.
How often should gutters be cleared?
Every 6 to 12 months. Annual gutter clearance is one of the most important preventative jobs on a home, helping avoid blockages, overflowing water, damp and costly repairs.
Why does moss and algae come back after cleaning?
No exterior clean lasts forever. Your property is constantly exposed to rain, wind, dirt, algae, moss and airborne spores, so nature gradually returns. That is completely normal — regular maintenance is far easier and more cost-effective than waiting until surfaces are heavily soiled again.
