How it looked
The block paving on this Thame driveway had gone darker and patchy across the whole surface. Nothing unusual — just a typical driveway that hadn't been cleaned properly for a while.
It happens gradually, which is why many people don't notice it until the driveway starts to look quite dull compared to when it was first laid.
- General dirt build-up
- Algae in the shaded areas
- Weeds and organic growth between the joints
- Loss of the original colour
The clean
The first step was a full assessment of the surface and the condition of the paving.
The cleaning itself was done using professional pressure-washing equipment, carefully removing the built-up dirt and organic growth. The key with driveways is getting the pressure and technique right — strong enough to clean properly, controlled enough not to disturb the surface.
The result
Once cleaned, the original colour came back through and the driveway looked far more consistent across the whole area.
It made a noticeable difference to the front of the property, especially from the road.
This job was priced at £425 — the price for that particular driveway at the time.
