It started with a drip
A customer in Fox Cover got in touch on WhatsApp because their gutter was dripping. They weren't sure when the gutters had last been cleared – I hear that a lot, and it's completely normal. Gutters are easy to forget about until something shows up.
I've cleaned gutters on plenty of houses on the same road, but this was my first time at this one.
Clearing the gutters
I cleared the gutters with my high-reach gutter-vac system and got the drip sorted.
What I found in the downpipe
I found screws sticking out inside the downpipe. It's a small thing, but screws like that can catch leaves and debris on the way down, and over time that can lead to a blockage.
I recommended taking them out, and I removed them while I was there.
Ready for autumn and winter
The gutters and downpipe were left clear and ready for autumn and winter.
If a gutter is dripping or overflowing, it's worth having it looked at properly – sometimes the cause is more than what's sitting in the gutter.
