The customer / situation
I was called out by a homeowner in Thame, Oxfordshire who got in touch because their concrete gutter system hadn't been cleared for over a year.
Moss was starting to fall from the gutter onto the patio below — a clear sign the system was overdue a proper clear-out.
What I found
When I inspected the gutter, the wide concrete channel was completely full of moss and compacted debris.
A conservatory underneath made the job harder. The gutter above it had clearly been neglected and hadn't been cleared properly by the previous gutter cleaning company.
To make things worse, the downpipe outlet was blocked right above the conservatory roof — the most awkward place it could have been.
What I did
I carried out a full clearance using the Gutter Vac, removing all the built-up moss and debris from the concrete gutter.
The blocked downpipe had to be cleared from the next-door property, which was the only safe way to access it because of the conservatory.
Once everything was clear, I checked the flow to make sure the water was running away properly again.
The proof
I sent the customer the all-important photos straight to their phone, so they could see exactly what had come out and that the job had been done properly.
They had complete peace of mind — and didn't need to climb a ladder or go up on the roof themselves.
