Why I always ask for photos before I quote.

One question I get asked quite a lot is: "Why do you always ask for photos before giving a quote?"
The simple answer is because it's the quickest, easiest and most convenient way for everyone.
When I first started Power Wash Pro, I used to visit every property to provide a quote. Over time, with improvements in technology — especially WhatsApp — I realised that, in most cases, it just wasn't necessary.
Today, around 80% of my quotes are provided from a few photos or a short walk-around video.
The biggest benefit is that I can usually give you a fixed price much more quickly. Most people don't want to wait around for me to visit when a couple of photos will tell me everything I need to know.
After cleaning hundreds of patios and driveways across Thame and the surrounding villages, I can almost always identify the surface, assess its condition and spot any potential issues from good-quality photos. That allows me to explain exactly what's involved and recommend the most suitable cleaning process before we even arrange a date.
Most importantly, it respects your time. There's no waiting in for a quotation visit, and I can usually get back to you within a few hours — certainly the same day.
Of course, if you'd rather I visit in person, or if the job is particularly unusual or complex, I'm always happy to do that.

What to send
Three photos (or a 20-second video) is usually plenty.
- A wide shot of the whole patio, driveway or elevation so I can gauge the size.
- A close-up of the surface — joints, moss, algae or staining tell me which process is right.
- A photo of the edges, steps, drains or anything unusual we should plan around.

Common questions
Why do you ask for photos before quoting?

What photos should I send?
A wide shot of the whole area, a close-up of the surface (so I can see the joints, moss or algae), and a photo of any edges, steps or drains. A short walk-around video on WhatsApp works even better.
Do you ever visit in person?
Yes — around 20% of quotes still need a site visit. If the job is unusual, very large, or you'd simply prefer I visit, I'm always happy to come out. Just say when you send your enquiry.
How long until I get my quote?
Usually within a few hours, and always the same working day where possible. The quote is fixed, in writing, with no obligation.
How do I send my photos?
