Gutter cleaning job on Lea Park in Thame.
A four-bedroom detached house – the sort of property I've cleaned hundreds of times before and very much a bread-and-butter job for me.
Margaret had booked my standard gutter service, which includes:
- Clear all gutters
- Unblock downpipes
- Airflow test the system
- Proof photos sent to the customer's phone on completion
Once I got the camera up and had a proper look, the gutters were full of moss. These square-style gutters do tend to block quite easily, so they needed a thorough clear.
One of the downpipes was completely blocked.
There hadn't been some dramatic failure that had prompted the job. It was simply picked up as part of me checking the guttering properly.
If a blocked downpipe is left unnoticed, the water has nowhere to go when we get heavy rain. In some cases, the first indication there's a problem can be water getting somewhere it shouldn't and damp appearing internally.
I cleared all the moss and debris from the gutters, then used the gutter vacuum to clear the blocked downpipe.
Once it was clear, I fully tested the system to make sure everything was working as it should.
All good.
As standard, I also took proof photos so the customer could see the completed work.
I've cleaned gutters on houses like this all over Thame. Most are straightforward jobs. But you don't know what's happening inside a downpipe just by looking at a house from the ground.
I have a do-it-once, do-it-right policy.
This house is now sorted for the next 12 months.
